The executive powers of the Hyannis Fire District are vested in the Board of Commissioners with all the executive powers given to them under Mass Gen Laws.  The Board is the chief policy-making agency of the District and is responsible for the issuance of policy directives and guidelines.

Policy on Access to Public Records

In accordance with the Massachusetts Public Records Law (M.G.L. c. 66, §10), the District provides public records in a manner that ensures timely and reasonable access. When records are available on our official website in an accessible format, referral to the website fulfills our obligation to provide access. Electronic delivery is free.  Individuals who prefer paper copies by mail may request them; however, fee estimates will be provided and will be required to be paid in advance for copying ($0.05 per page), and actual postage cost. Additional costs may apply for extensive requests.

Regular scheduled meetings of the Hyannis Fire District Commissioners for the calendar year will be held unless otherwise noted on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Hyannis Fire Department, 95 High School Road Ext, Hyannis.

3/20/2026 Last day to submit nomination papers to Town of Barnstable’s Town Clerk for certification of signatures (60 days)
3/27/2026 Last day to file nomination papers with the District Clerk-Treasurer, by 4pm (53 days)
3/27/2026 Last day to object or withdraw with the District Clerk-Treasurer, by 4pm (53 days)
3/27/2026 Petition signed warrant articles must be submitted to the District Clerk-Treasurer (53 days)
4/3/2026 Ballot position drawing by lot, by District Clerk-Treasurer, by 4pm (7 days post nomination paper date)
5/5/2026 Last day to post the warrant for the district election per District By-Laws (14 days)
5/8/2026 Last day to register voters for the district election with Town of Barnstable’s Town Clerk (10 days)
5/13/2026 Last day to receive absentee ballot applications with the District Clerk-Treasurer, by 4pm (7 days)
5/19/2026 Elections open 3pm to 8pm

NOMINATION PAPERS FOR FY 2027 ELECTION FOR ONE (1) POSITION ON THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE HYANNIS FIRE DISTRICT, FOR A THREE (3) YEAR TERM ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DISTRICT HEADQUARTERS, CLERK’S OFFICE, 95 HIGH SCHOOL ROAD EXTENSION, HYANNIS, MA. FIFTY (50) VALID SIGNATURES ARE REQUIRED. NOMINATION PAPERS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE TOWN OF BARNSTABLE REGISTRARS OF VOTERS FOR CERTIFICATION NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 2026 AND MUST BE RETURNED TO THE CLERK OF THE HYANNIS FIRE DISTRICT NO LATER THAN 4:00 P.M. FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 2026. ELECTIONS WILL TAKE PLACE TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2026 FROM 3:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE HYANNIS FIRE DISTRICT WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY MAY 20, 2026, 7:00 P.M.
