Open Burning Process
Open burning will be allowed January 15 through May 1st of each year from 10:00am to 4:00 pm. All outside fires must be out at 4:00pm.
Every year you must submit one online open burn permit for each address you wish to open burn. The permit is free and you can complete the form below. You must be 18 years of age and have permission to burn on the property.
If you have already submitted your online open burn permit, you must call (508) 775-1300, then dial 8. This is a recorded message that informs you if open burning is allowed for the day.
You must call each day you wish to burn. Call after 9:30am because the decision to allow burning is made depending on weather conditions at 9:30am. There is no further action needed by the caller once they have heard the approval message. A link is provided below that provides guidance on how to keep your open burn safe and within regulations.
Hyannis Fire Department reserves the right to revoke any open burn permit, for any reason deemed appropriate by official fire personnel. If you have any further questions or concerns, call (508)-775-1300, then dial 0 to speak with fire personnel.
